چکیده

Dislocations are often introduced in Ni-based superalloys to impart sufficient strength at both room temperature and high temperatures prior their use automobile exhaust gaskets. However, the interaction between representative γ′ (Ni3(Al, Ti))-phase precipitates dislocations remains unclear. Therefore, this study examined effect of cold rolling on age-hardening behavior microstructure evolution, focusing formation γ′-phase Ni3Ti during aging 700°C for up 400 h after 60% solution-treated specimens. During early stage aging, 0.03 h, hardness rapidly increased from 401 HV 496 HV. Age-hardening continued until 3 reached its peak 536 HV, followed by gradual decrease with time. 3D atom probe investigation revealed that was confirmed 0.3 aging. composition-modulated structure speculated be caused spinodal decomposition observed aged specimen. The change time considered calculating contribution each strengthening mechanism. In initial (0–3 h), dislocation solid-solution dominated along strengthening. Strengthening specimen is presumptively accelerated dislocations, which further precipitation precipitates. later (3–400 became dominant 20 while decreased

Precipitation Hardening of Metal Alloys

Precipitation hardening, or age hardening, provides one of the most widely used mechanisms for the strengthening of metal alloys. The fundamental understanding and basis for this technique was established in early work at the U. S. Bureau of Standards on an alloy known as Duralumin [1,2]. Duralumin is an aluminum alloy containing copper and magnesium with small amounts of iron and silicon. In a...

Precipitation hardening in dilute Al–Zr alloys

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of solute content (hipoperitectic Al–0.22 wt.%Zr and hiperperitectic Al–0.32 wt.%Zr) on the precipitation hardening and microstructural evolution of dilute Al–Zr alloys isothermally aged. The materials were conventionally cast in a muffle furnace, solidified in a water-cooled Cu mold and subsequently heat-treated at the temperature of 650 K (3...

Precipitation of T1 and θ′ Phase in Al-4Cu-1Li-0.25Mn During Age Hardening: Microstructural Investigation and Phase-Field Simulation

Experimental and phase field studies of age hardening response of a high purity Al-4Cu-1Li-0.25Mn-alloy (mass %) during isothermal aging are conducted. In the experiments, two hardening phases are identified: the tetragonal θ' (Al₂Cu) phase and the hexagonal T₁ (Al₂CuLi) phase. Both are plate shaped and of nm size. They are analyzed with respect to the development of their size, number density ...

Group precipitation and age hardening of nanostructured Fe-based alloys with ultra-high strengths

The precipitation of nanoparticles plays a key role in determining the properties of many structural materials, and the understanding of their formation and stabilization mechanisms has been a long standing interest in the material field. However, the critical issues involving the group precipitation of various nanoparticles and their cooperative hardening mechanism remain elusive in the newly ...
